The only prove I have for you that I actually managed this would be my words and the fact that I'm actually skinnier than 3 months ago. For me this was all about being able to get fit again and prove to myself that I'm still a bit sporty. So right now I've started to think what I should do next. It would be a bit stupid to just stop running now when I'm in this shape. Anyone that want to join me for New York or London Marathon in 2008? That would for sure make me/you continue/start running again.

My formal AIESEC career is now over, so now it's back to school and work in the NGO MOT. Though it has resulted in some pretty extreme distances to catch up with a lot of lost days due to travelling and my sisters wedding. But after my running today I reached the biggest milestone on my way home. I managed to "arrive" Trondheim after 65 days and nearly 500km of running. My legs are starting to feel the pain now, but now I'm not giving up no matter what.

Trondheim was my second home for 2 years, when I was a student at TØH, in a couple of months you'll again find me in Trondheim when I'm going to finish my study and in the same time work for MOT.

I hope to manage to post a couple of postings before I arrive home in 23 days!:)

I'm half way!

The last couple of weeks has involved road trip with some friends and a lot of traveling around in Norway. This has given me some challenges when it comes to running, but this week has been good with a good opportunities to run both in Trondheim and at home this weekend. After running 81km this I've been running 51% of the distance.

On the map I'm now out of one of the most boring valleys in Norway (when it comes to driving and things to see when you're travelling through it), and I'm not heading towards Trøndelag. For those of you that are known in the area I've just passed Tynset on my way passing the mountain area Kvikne. So now it's only 150km to Trondheim.

One more update..

The last weeks I've also managed to keep my running schedule up pretty good, so looking at my little tracking sheet I am on the spot according to it. Though during the last days, my right knee has started to get ill, so I'm not able to run 100% on it at the moment. But I've never thought about ending the whole thing, so I've allowed myself to use my bike on my way home. Though to not make it easier, I will not meassure the distance I bike, but use the average time per kilometer as I did with my running. So 60min biking will be 10km running. Since the overall objective of my run was to get fit the, I don't see a problem to bike instead, though I will start to run as soon as my knee is good again.

According to the map I'm currently "running" in a pretty boring part of Norway, so it's not really that many things to mention, but I just passed a place called Koppang and I'm now having a rest at a place called Hanestad for those that are really well known in the area. The distance from Oslo is now 263 km. This means only 416km left...

Even further north...(passing the place where I started to grow up as a person!)

Even with some tired legs I'm now closer to home and even more ahead of schedule, but with a lot of travelling in front of me, I still need to be focused to be able to get home in time. At the last update I just passed Elverum, and I'm now heading up Østerdalen ("The Eastern valley"), in this valley you'll find the longest river in Norway, Glomma (That probably tells that this valley is pretty long:) 27% of the distance is now done (184km), though still there's 495km left. Yesterday I did one of my longest runs in my entire life, putting down 23km. This is even for crazy me an insane distance, but sometimes you just feel that you can run like Forrest Gump. In these moments you just feel that you can run longer and faster than everyone. This is a feeling I wish that everyone could have.

At 174km I passed a small village called Rena, this place is known for two things:

1. It's hosting the most popular and known Long distance Cross Country skiing race in Norway called Birkebeineren.
2. One of the biggest army camps in Norway are based here, a camp where I personally spent a bit more than one year of my life, a year I still consider the year in my life where I developed the most.

I started in the army when I was turning 19 years old, and as a boy living at home the whole life this was a huge change. Sharing room with 5 other guys and pushing myself (being pushed) over the limits I had both mentally and physically by far. After a period of general solider education we were going to be selected into the positions we should have the rest of the year. At that time I was probably in my best physical shape ever, so I sort of expected that I would become one of these soldiers that had to run the longest and carry the heaviest guns. But luckily I got the opportunity that I wanted, to become a tank driver. So the rest of the year I was driving around in the forest, controlling a vehicle of 26 tons, with 10 other guys in the back that had to run out every time there was a man to man fight happening. If you want to know more about my year in the army feel free to approach me about it! (General guys that have been in the army like to talk about it!:)

Stay tuned for the next update about my progress up north!

Update on my "journey back home"

Some days ago I started to post about my running challenge I started on in the middle of April. And now it's time to give an update. But after some thoughts I realized that most of the people "following" my trip are probably not 100% familiar with the Norwegian geography, so I'm going to try to talk a bit about some of the places I'm passing.

After a short one more run today, the schedule is going perfect, and I'm actually now ahead of it. So after 19 days I've now passed 148km, and that means almost 22% of the overall distance.

According to the map, I "passed" a middle size city (Norwegian standard) called Elverum some 10km ago. This city is known for a couple of things; First of all because it's probably the city symbolizing the foresrty and forest industry we have here in Norway, by the Norwegian Forest Museum. In the same time Elverum have a big army camp and when you're driving through Elverum by car you'll always pass the "famous" motel Elgstua (the Moose house!!), with a moose sculpture on the outside. Personally I've spent several days at Elverum during my time in the army, and partying at some of the local bars, since my main camp was situated some time outside of Elverum, at a place called Rena that I'll come back to at the next "report"

Running home

I was sitting for myself some time back asking myself, why don't I manage to keep up my work out schedule. I start and suddenly it stops again. And I asked myself what do I need to do to keep it up. Together with some friends we started Get Fit 2007, though I'm not 100% satisifed with my outcome there. So I came up with even one more idea. I did it some time back, but I didn't wanna tell anything about it before I felt it started to work well.

The idea is simple, I'm going to "run home" to my parents house in Namsos, before I'm ending my term in AIESEC Norway 15th of July. This means 679,4 km, and since I started 19th of April it means 88 days with an average of 7,72km pr day. Below you'll find the

So what's the status?
It started good, though last week with Scandinavian Chillout in Sweden and a bad injury from a basketbal match, I lost a couple of running days this week, but now I'm back on track and I've put down 97km, that gives me an average of 7,87km for the remaining days. According to the map I've just passed a place called Espa not that far from one of the olympic cities Hamar.
More updates will come, on my way up north!

Are we acting sustainable?
Today I attended the an event about climate change, were Susan Solomon the chair of one of the working groups in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change presented the last report about the changes in the world climate recently. The information she presented wasn't really anything new, the session itself was a bit boring (one of the ladies in the panel fell asleep!!?). But the whole presentation made me reflect a bit on my own behaviours in terms of emissions. And I'm actually a bit embarrassed being Norwegian and also how I as an AIESECer go in front as a good example for the rest of the society.

As a Norwegian in terms of the country not doing enough reducing their emissions, though the government has started slowly. As an AIESECer, in terms of all the travelling to conferences etc. I took a test to find out my emissions compared to the average Norwegian and as a AIESECer, my emissions was 4 times more than the average Norwegian. And by knowing that Norwegians are having high emissions in general, it's a bit shocking. After a small calculation I found out that if 200 persons travelled to AIESECs international presidents meeting with a return flight from Oslo to Egypt the total CO2 emissions would be 160,8 Tonnes (I guess this could be a good average distance). For me that seems A LOT! Though it would only cost 9 Euro pr person to offset these emissions, but none really do it, either inside AIESEC or outside. Now the Norwegian government has started to pay to offset their emissions, I'm going to do the same, what about you??

Empowering experience!

Just after IPM, my dear friend and colleague Aron from Sweden approached me and asked if I wanted to be the chair of Empower 2007! This was a question that I wasn't really prepared for, but for me it was a great honour to actually be asked and for me it was sort of a good symbol of appreciation from working with AIESEC Sweden that I just had to be extremely happy for, so I threw everything out of my hands and said yes right away.

After a hectic period home in Norway, I have to admit that my self confidence in me as a chair before I left was not the best one, since this was a pretty new role for me, so I tried to put my self through the same process as before IPM to build up my confidence by utilizing my competitive instinct so when I arrived the MC flat on Monday evening my blood was pumping around in excitement.

After a couple of days with a lot of fun and conference preparations in the facilitators team we were ready to kick start the conference, kicking of the Opening Plenary with an insane energy, were all the Swedish LCs just competed from the start (who's the loudest LC!).

From the Opening Plenary and on till the end of every session, party and the conference itself, the energy level was insane and people just had an amazing time. Looking back this is probably one of the most successful conferences I've been a part of, and I could probably spend a lot of time telling about all the different moments, but that would take ages. But since I left the MC flat last Monday, receiving a lot of appreciation from Swedish delegates etc, I've asked myself, what made this conference successful and what makes conferences in general successful? And here are some of my reflections:

Don't underestimate your own story as a leader: One thing that stroked me during the conference is that people actually really appreciate that you're sharing your experiences, your personal stories and the development of you. I wasn't really aware of this before this conference, but if I look back at the time when I joined AIESEC I was extremely inspired by the experienced and successful AIESECers... So why can't people be the same by my and our story.

Don't underestimate the power of the others story: People don't only get inspired by your story (obviously), but they also get inspired by other stories, make sure that delegates get time to share their story with each other. This makes sure that people get to know each other on a better and deeper level.

Have fun: When you're making and delivering the conference, it doesn't really matter in the end if you spent 10 hours of making a visual effect in the ppt, if you don't have time to have fun and to show that you're having fun. If you as a facilitator don't have fun, you're not able to show that things are fun and if you're not showing that things are fun, delegates will not think its fun. And then it doesn't matter if you spent 10 hours on a visual effect. During Empower we as a facilitator team made some random movies, thank you Chafic for pulling the fun atmosphere on an even higher level. I'm a typical person that could tend to do so, but I decided before Empower that I would like to leave my seriousness back home in Norway. So I'll guess you'll never see anyone dance "Full pakke" more stupid than me, but apparently people liked it.

In the end, this is just thoughts I had to share, if you have other thought to add on this please share with me.

In the end I just want to thank:

The Swedish MC for inviting me over and giving me this unique experience I'll never forget!

Linn, Chafic, Patricia, Lydia and Dorien for taking the session up on an incredible level

Allison and her OC team for always smiling, doing their best and making sure the conference was so successful.

Swedish AIESECers for giving me as a Norwegian in Sweden such a warm welcome and doing your best to Empower yourself, me and others!

Thanks for this empowering experience!

Experiencing myself and Egypt part 2!

(It took a while, but here it is)

So here I was, sitting in Cairo at the AIESEC pre meeting with all my MCP friends around me. WHAT A FEELING! Sitting here 6 months since the last time feeling that you're in your second home with some of your best friends sitting around you. Guys I'm looking forward to see you again someday, sometime.

Though for me a lot of my thoughts and mind was focused on the upcoming event, the AIESEC International elections. When reading this you've known the result for ages, but there's a lot of feelings involved in this intense and challenging experience, and here you see some of mine

Looking at myself I arrived the conference a bit nervous but also very focused on what I was about going into. A very natural state for me and my personality. All this I didn't really feel before all the AI candidates met up for dinner the first day at the site. Sitting there in a room with probably 40 of the most talented and ambitious people in the whole AIESEC network made me realize that this was going to be a really amazing experience but also a very tough one. I remember my good friend and now AI elect Rishabh say in good sales spirit "There's a lot of high valuable AIESEC talent in this room that I would like to sell". From the moment he said this I was in the elections mood. As in all similar situations I turned calm and focused. The speech was going in my head on and on and on. My energy level started to increase.... I was were I was supposed to be and my confidence improved and improved. I was ready for the process.

Suddenly it was the fifth candidates turn and I walked into a room with an amazing energy and atmoshphere. I especially remember the face of one of my good friends and fellow MCPs when I was walking in, just telling me that now it was my turn and that people actually was looking forward to listen to me. And as David Guetta said in my song "The world is mine" And I did it, I showed people who I am and people really liked it.

After that going out really energetic, straight into preparation for the Q&A and the interview. And that was an experience itself. Will I every be able to be judged and questioned by 200ppl from 100 different countries while applying for a job!? After getting the confidence vote and some hours of sleep it went straight into the interview. And getting out of the interviewroom I felt really confident and had a hope that next year I would live and work in Rotterdam. Recently I've asked myself if this attitude was a healthy one in this situations and I sort of concluded that what would happen if I didn't have it, I would have lost the elections before I came there...And it made me realize that the book about "confidence and believe in yourself" I read some years back and practiced in cross country skiing, gave me a bit of this attitude to apply in these type of situations. Where would I be today without that? (I don't know!)

After this it was a lot of waiting, what happened at the conference didn't really get into me. This feeling of confidence in my head was still there and when I got closer to the announcement I also got this anoxious feeling that it could also go the other way. (What should I believe in? My stomach feeling or my common sense?)

Then we were standing there, hand in hand while 200 others were staring at us with the big question in mind. Who'll be the next directors of AIESEC International?
"Ivan from Colombia", What a good choice....
"Shirley from Canada", Another excellent choice
"Rob from Thailand", one more splendid candidate
"JC from Norway", ohhh..that's extremely cool, my good and former teammate made it!:)
"Juan from China" another excellent choice
"Tamer from Egypt" he really deserved it

Then it was like a big stone hit my stomach, Where is my name???? That was the one of the most strange moments in my life. My brain felt like frozen, I didn't feel anything, just empty. I more or less don't remember anything from what I did or said that evening. The next morning I woke up and I really realized what had happened, and I was angry, angry on myself. What did I do wrong? Half of that day I asked myself the question... what did I do wrong? But after talking to some people they made me realize that I didn't really do anything wrong, it was just not the right thing for me there and then. I wasn't really the type they were looking for right now. And this was one of my biggest learnings during this process. And I'm still a bit dissapointed, but I accept it and I accept the fact that this wasn't really for me this time.

So what should I do now? A good question that probably nowone really knows, but this intense process and learning experience made me realize that the world is not only AIESEC and the world has a lot of opportunities for me. Sitting here back home today I've started to look forward to the life that is coming and all the opportunities I see. But as some smart people say, if one opportunity goes by, another will come.

Looking back I would say that everyone should have the opportunity to go through a process like this, even though it can be tough, it's worth it!

Experiencing myself and Egypt part 1!

Since I started in the role as MCP, I've realized more and more how fortunate and lucky I am, how much I actually learn in this role and how many opportunities I've got. Spending almost 3 weeks in Egypt on IPM (International President Meeting), gave me a lot of time to think, talk do dear friends and MCP colleagues and taking part of the AIESEC International elections. Though the elections didn't go my way this time, it gave me a huge learning experience and it opened my eyes for all the other opportunities I have beside AIESEC International. Meeting and talking to all my MCP friends around the world made me realize how powerful the network really is and the position I'm in. What if all our people on this earth could experience something similar!!!??

Being in Egypt for the first time, meant that I had to experience the country as well. The whole thing starting off at the airport with a bunch of people storming towards me wanting to help me with whatever I needed help for, they probably thought; "this guy has a lot of money, I want some of them!" After a couple of hours of sleep I had a new experience at the Norwegian embassy where I was invited for a coffee and got a ride with the diplomat car!

After that our Egyptian trip and exploration started, we experienced small hidden restaurants, bars, belly dancing, surfing on the Nile etc in Cairo. The other day we had our own taxi driver that took us into the pyramids, papyrus museum, local perfume shop, horse riding around the pyramids and much more. The thing we didn't realize was that this driver ripped us of full time, so he and all his friends in the different shops, owning the horses etc probably had one of their most profitable days ever!

After one experience there comes another experience: Then we jumped on the night bus to Dahab (a city on coast of the Sinai Peninsula, towards Saudi Arabia). And a ride with the night bus in Egypt is slightly different from Norway. We started of the ride watching an Arabian movie on the small TV followed by a 4 hours long and loud Arabic prayer/song on the radio. Within these hours we had passed several of all the checkpoints where they checked our passport. In Dahab we spent some time relaxing enjoying the sun, doing some snorkelling etc. The Snorkelling was just wonderful, being able to swim in February as in the same time seeing all the types of fish that you only think exists in movies and dreams.

After 2 days of relaxing and mental preparation of the AI elections we had a plan to climb Mount Sinai on our way back to Cairo. Coming there in the middle of the night (you climb it to see the sunrise), we realized that we had a shortage of time to make it to IPM as it was an extreme low temperature to be in Egypt (around 0), so we cancelled the climb and decided to take the 6am bus in the morning. So we had to find a place to sleep, so we took the first and best option ending up on a thin mattress on a stone bench in a stone cabin for 40NOK, before we took the 6am bus with the same 4 hour Arabic prayer on the radio, ending up in Cairo and the IPM pre meeting.

Thank you Shirley for the nice conversations
Thank you Tom, Andrew and Tamer for the hospitality
Thank you all Egyptians trying to screw me off!

Stay tuned for the next part...

Me, climbing the pyramid!

Camels on the beach in Dahab (you can see Saudi Arabia in the background)

Mount Sinai during sunrise

Globalization.... and me?

Today I had one of these moments where you feel extremely lucky and fortunate. Sitting there at a conference about Globalization hosted by the NHO - Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise, with 8 projector screens, a rotating stage and a professionalism in they way of arranging conferences that AIESEC should really look at and strive for. And there you had the CEO of Statoil, CEO of Hydro, the Prime minister, the Crown prince and the Crown princess, ME:) and all the other political and corporate leaders of Norway. Normally I’m "tall", but today I felt rather small.!:) And I asked myself a question several times, will I have the opportunity to sit in the same type of forum again and in case when?

The conference brought up some new things, especially in the speech of the Director-General in WTO Pascal Lamy where he stated clear that if Norway should keep up their good reputation internationally, we have to cooperate more in the negotiations in the WTO. Especially around the agriculture issues, where Norway has been fighting hard to keep their farmers alive on the same level as today. He also touched upon the fact that EU gives 7 USD in aid to every person Africa (average) while EU in the same time subsidises each cow with more than 900USD, and Norway is a lot worse than the EU average. So I'm asking myself the question... Do EU values poor people in that way compared to their cows? and what would happen to the world if we changed the trade regulations that are still similar to how they were shaped in the times of the colonies. If the rest of the world made it possible for Africa to double their export, half a billion African people would get out of poverty. (And double export in terms of Africa is not that big in the overall world scale).

Together with interesting points like this, they brought up points linked to how Norway would look like in 2030. They see Norway as a country that should start handling CO2 from other countries and deport it into the empty oilfields. They see Norway as a country that would subsidise foreigners and their education in their home country in exchange of them coming to Norway working in the social sector for 6 years. This would help Norway in its need for labour and the other country interms of education and knowledge.

For me this was a perfect start of the New Year and hopefully I'm back at the same annual conference in some years!

Global Warming and Reindeers!?

As all of you know, in Norway you'll find raindeers everywhere. But the Global Warming that we face at the moment with 12 degrees during 2nd of December in a country like Norway, is a big danger for ALL reindeers that you'll find in Oslo and in Norway!? So what should we do to make them survive and feel happy?

Norway has come up with one ulitimate solution, why not spend of our oilfund and transport snow from the mountains into the centre of Oslo!? Perfect!!! This makes the reindeers feel happy and the snow will probably function as icecubes in drinks, aka the temparature in Oslo will decrease. :)

Here you see the proof of the ulitmate solution to Global Warming. Snow for the reindeer!:)

Get Fit 2007 update #1!

First I have to apologize that I’ve not updated anyone about the Get Fit 2007 concept that I started, especially when this was made with the meaning of keeping eachother accountable for its development. A LOT of people have approached me both through the blog, by email and regular chats. So the concept is definitely something to bring forward.

For me this is most about accountability, so if it’s the same for other people as well, feel free to share your improvements to the others through the comments or by email. Be aware that everyone is Getting Fit in the way they want, so if you haven’t done the same as others or not as much. It’s all about being satisfied yourself and not to be better than others. (Then you can sign up for a competition)

So what have I’ve been doing since the launch of Get Fit 2007 the 9th of October?

I’ve been sharing my progress with some others, but now it’s time for the whole world to get to know. Since the 2nd of October I’ve been to the gym between 4 and 5 time pr week. And the gym for me includes 20min running, 10min on the rowing machine and 20 - 30 minutes with muscle training in the end. So it’s nothing more complicated than that. Since I’ve found out that plans about going to the gym in the evening often fails because of a lot of work and that I’m tired etc, I started to do it in the morning before I’m going to work. And believe it or not, it’s actually a very good start of the day, when you’re getting used to it.

So have I seen any results?

Generally I feel more awake and concentrated during daytime, and I can see during the work out that my stamina has improved and that I’m getting slightly stronger!:)

So what about YOU???

AIESEC Stavanger

Then I'm sitting on the airport in Stavanger after my second visit in the city. Also this stay has been hectic with a lot of different things happening. Though this time I came with plane and didn't have to spend 17 hours on a train:) When I arrived yesterday I was met by Sandra on the airport, one of our girls at the university. She was smiling as always and I could already see the AIESEC spirit in her when she came walking towards me, and that was really a nice feeling for a person that have been dreaming about this Local Committee during all my time the national committee. We headed over to Elisabeths place (the second girl), she was just as enthusiastic with the same spirit!:) We finalized the information meeting, and in the true AIESEC spirit everything was prepared and set for our recruitment meeting the day before.

My schedule in Stavanger was really tight, since I also wanted to do some company visits in the city. (Stavanger is the city where most of the main oil companies are based.) So before our meeting at 12.30 I had 2 company meetings as well with Shell and ConocoPhillips. I had some nice meetings and hopefully we'll see some results from them in the end. Then I headed straight up for our information meeting. Since this was the first time ever where an information meeting about AIESEC was held at the university and on top of that in the middle of the exam period, we were quite happy with almost 30 people coming. So hopefully we'll see quite a few of them attending our next national conference in Trondheim.

For me that have had this dream for a long time it's really good to see that things are rolling. And in one year I would look at AIESEC in Stavanger to see even more AIESECers from Stavanger that are just as passionate and enthusiastic as Sandra and Elisabeth.

We’ve also got some media coverage; you can take a look at the recent article here.. (Sorry it’s in Norwegian, so you can use it as a practise in the beautiful language Norwegian!:)

PS. I would like to really thank Sandra and Elisabeth for a really nice stay and for all the effort you've been putting down. And as well to Jostein that have been just as enthusiastic about this as me and made this actually possible at our last national conference!:)

A seed is planted!?

Thursday at 1047am I was sitting down on the night train to Stavanger, with one of clear goal in my head. Initiating a new AIESEC local committee in Norway, 58 years after the first one started. Now it’s 11.00 am the day after, sitting on the train back home, thinking back on what actually happened those 8 hours I had at the University of Stavanger. Our first seed is planted, and we’ll now get around 4 students that are curious about AIESEC to our first national conference (as planned). They would like to see this beautiful organization growing up on the south west coast of Norway, just as much as we want! Though I’m slightly tired after all the travelling, I REALLY think it’s worth the hours spent, if we see a local committee coming up! Let’s work on it together and hopefully it’ll change people’s life in hopefully more than 58 coming years!

GO AIESEC!

“Get fit 2007”!! Do you want to join?

After being reasonable sporty some years ago, I’ve sort of realized that in the last couple of years, I haven’t really deserved this description. Last winter I sort of took one step towards a better life again, buying a fairly expensive pass for a gym. I did this after realizing that a better stamina etc gives me a lot more energy, make me stay more awake etc.

But back to the point, many people start the year with a BIG vision, this year I’m really going to get fit, stop smoking etc. But probably the majority fails just after a couple of months. But I believe both me and you are one of those that are capable of living this completely out. But to make this happen I need someone to do it together with. That’s why I’m looking for people with the same interest and vision as me, we can group up, help eachother as in the same time can keep each other accountable. And the more people going together the easier it’ll be to keep each other up. (Support eachother, keep each other accountable, give inputs etc)

That’s why I’m proposing the “Get Fit 2007!” So if you’re interested in getting fit, a better stamina, more muscles or generally try to be healthier, approach me and we’ll make a “Get Fit 2007”-group together! So I started to read a book about how laughter can make businesses profitable. I’m still not totally finished with the book, but as of now I got to know some interesting facts about humour and stress.

Since I guess some of the people reading this, are working a lot, studying etc and in the same time you’ve probably been in stressed situations/periods, or maybe you’re constantly stressed? I know a lot of people probably working a bit too much (also a trend in the society), and I’m probably close to be one of them. But in this book I actually found one way of keeping the stress away (I guess it’s not new, but people should be constantly reminded)

It should be natural for everybody that humour and laughter is sort of the opposite thing than stress, so do you know that:

Laughter increases the number of “killer cells” and bacteria reducing metabolites like immunoglobulin in your immunodeficiency a lot, while the same metabolites decreases while you’re stressed!!!

This mean that if you’re a lot sick, maybe you should try to laugh a bit more and have a bit more fun?

While laughing you’re also decreasing the number of stress related metabolites in your body, like Epinefrin, Plasma Kortisol and DOPAC (Strange words, but I guess they’ve got an important function!:)

Though those two points might seem obvious, I just want to say that I believe that more humour, laughter and smiles in the society will improve the life for everyone, both physically and mentally.

Keep smiling and laughing!:)

More thoughts from the nature and the Moose hunt

On Tuesday, day 2 of the Moose hunt started, getting up early and I have to say that I realized that working in AIESEC hasn’t really made me used to getting up really early..

The day started good as the first day, we decided to hunt in the longest area away from the road and of course with the tightest bush, made it a bit challenging when you actually can’t look up and see the sky because of the tight forest. But still we started off well, taking down our second Moose for the season, already before 9am, a quite big bull with a meat weight of around 230Kg (Meat weight is the weight of the animal without the skin, the head, legs and stomach, so if you put the WHOLE animal on a weight it’ll probably be around 350Kg!!) If you look at the first picture below you’ll actually see the bull and our second dog, REX and in the second picture some of the team members in the Norwegian forest getting ready to transport the Moose back home!

In the evening some of the team members made a wonderful dinner, made of inner beef from the Moose (best quality meet you can actually get), potatoes, salad and a premium sauce! Definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had! So gratitude towards our chefs!!!

Wednesday, day 3:
This day started as the other two days with me, being one of the responsible for pressuring the moose towards the shooters. (Since I’ve unfortunately not taken the shooting test this year) But this day didn’t actually give us any results, except being able to see some moose during the day, but that was all. Lets hope for more luck during Thursday!

A bit scary thing is that we’ve actually got brown bears in and around our hunting area, but most of the hunters are actually allowed to shoot it if they see it. But unfortunately I’m going around there without a rifle, so if an angry bear appear by my side I hope a mix of a small knife and my Jakki Jakki skills will scare Mr Bear away! So I hope one of the guys with a rifle will meet it first. One of the guys in the team actually found two dead cheeps, killed by a bear today. So lets hope Jakki Jakki also scares away angry animals in the forest, in case they find me, like me and want to eat me, in the next couple of days!;) (Anyone with the experience of Jakki Jakki towards animals and what's their reaction?)

Short story from the Norwegian Moose hunt!!

As I told last week, the 25th of September the Norwegian Moose hunt starts, so a couple of days this week, I'll be joining my father and his team for the hunt, while I'm also trying to work a bit at home.

So yesterday, Sunday we went up to the area to sleep in a cabin and to prepare strategies and teamwork. (It's almost as in AIESEC!:) But it's also to get into this hunting mood, while some of the more experienced guys share stories from more than 30 years of experience.

If you want to see where we are....just look at google maps (in the middle) by following this link..

Today we opened our eyes at 5.30am getting ready for the big day...as soon as it was possible to see anything. Shortly after the eight of us started my dad took down the first Moose at 8am. This was the only one we managed today but we're aiming for some more tomorrow, since we're allowed to take down two calfs and two 1,5 year olds. I've got pictures of the one we took down today, but I'll not post pictures of it here. (if interested, send me an email) But in one of the parts today I was going with one of the dogs, named "XO" (actually the name is coming from Cognac and named by the owner:) And "XO" is a nice and true grey Norwegian Moose dog! Here he is, while me and him where looking for more Moose! :)

PS. So for you that feel that you should have been out getting your body in shape but feel that your ankles might be a bit weak, listen to this!;)

There are two things that need to be in place:

Strength in the muscles around the ankle (in order to stabilize)

Balance (Actually it's important, more balance make you stabilize the ankles more and better

So how to get these two things in order?

Strength:
Swim, run outside of tracks, walk with shoes in the mountains etc. This small unstable activities will increase the strength in the muscles.

Balance:
This is a more fun thing, what I always did when I was training for my skiing I was training balance on a rope 50cm above the ground. So put up a rope between two poles/trees (not that tight) and try to keep your balance up there for a while. This is actually not that hard as you might believe. This will also give you some strength around your ankles.

So a challenge for all of you reading this try to put yourself on a rope, take 4 pair of clothing off and put them on again without falling down. And believe me, I've actually done it!!:) (That's probably the thing that shocked my friend the most today, how the h... did this tall guy manage this).

It's just a good example that shows that if you really want YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!:).

A couple of posts from me today.....

First about again about 911.. My last post was about the video Loose Change and all the conspiracy that are happening around 911. This week one of my friends told me about a movie called "Screw Loose Change". It's sort of the exact same video, but while you see Loose Change you'll also see some sort of subtitles that is sort of trying to prove the opposite. I haven't seen the whole movie, since it's a bit long, but it sort of puts the case back again. (Maybe it's made by the Government?) But in the end I don't really know what to belive anymore

They've taken this video down from google, but still you'll find it on their webpage

911 Cover Up

Loose Change
The video mentioned in the previous post. of all I had almost written a long post about September 11th and the conspiracy theories that have been raised since the attacks 5 years ago... (but my computer crashed!) It all started at International Congress in Poland, where I had a nice conversation with a good friend of mine, Kanwal from Canada that told me about some of the conspiracy theories that are in the spotlight at the moment. So after spending 95% of previous Saturday resting after a hard week/Friday in the same time watching numerous movies about the attacks a lot of thoughts started to go around in my head. Do we actually know all the truth about what happened 5 years and some days ago in New York, Washington DC and Cleveland Pennsylvania? Personally I don't think we know all the details, but to what extent I'm not sure...

Though I guess the person got to know several "new" things about me.

So as a person with some background sports and training from my years at the sport high school, I tried to share some tips on how to avoid the pain and harm a sprained ankle actually can cause.

First ever blog from the Indermo family!!!

Welcome to the first ever blog post created by a member of the Indermo family (I'm very sure!!:) In this blog I'll write about anything that I find interesting to write about from my life, my general thoughts and my different experinces.
